EEOC seeks approval from OMB to collect race and gender data through 2021
Contractors have a reprieve in the filing of their 2019 EEO-1 until EEOC receives approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to collect Component 1 race and gender data. The EEO-1 Portal is closed until approval is obtained.
On Friday, March 20th, EEOC filed another request for approval with OMB seeking a new “control number” that unties the Component 1 data from the prior contract number that also authorized the collection of Component 2 pay data. The agency is seeking to remove Component 1 from OMB control number 3046-0007 and assign it a new control number.
Considering the current state of the government operations and that fact that the public has until April 22, 2020 to comment on EEOC’s request, it is unlikely that the EEO-1 Portal will be opening any time soon. Comments can be submitted by mail to Bernadette B. Wilson, Executive Officer, Executive Secretariat, EEOC, 131 M Street, NE, Washington, DC 20507. They can also be sent by facsimile to (202) 663-4114 or submitted online using the instructions identified here.
