Wells Fargo & Co. entered into a conciliation agreement with OFCCP and will pay $603,612 in back wages, interest and benefits to 2,066 female and 282 African American applicants at three company locations.
OFCCP’s investigation discovered that, from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014, Wells Fargo & Co.’s Phone Bank Premier, Home Equity & Online Customer Service (OCS) unit discriminated against African Americans and females in the application process. In Virginia and Utah locations, 2,066 female applicants for online customer service representatives were affected as well as African American applicants for phone banker positions in Arizona.
Wells Fargo will also make 17 job offers in Virginia, 20 job offers in Utah, and 29 job offers in Arizona. The company will also review and revise its selection process and provide training to hiring managers.
