Report on The State of Older Workers and Age Discrimination 50 Years after the ADEA released by EEOC

Similarities between age discrimination and other forms of discrimination identified

The Report finds that “age discrimination remains too common and too accepted as outdated assumptions about older workers and ability persist, even though today’s experienced workers are more diverse, better educated and worker longer than previous generations.”

Research used to prepare the report indicated that only 3% of older workers experiencing age discrimination complained to either their employer or to a government agency. However, more than three-fourths of older workers surveyed indicated that their age is an obstacle in getting a job.
