Oldcastle enters into Conciliation Agreement with OFCCP to pay whites, blacks, and women
To resolve a routine compliance evaluation, OFCCP entered into a conciliation agreement with Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope Inc. (Oldcastle) to resolve allegations of hiring discrimination. OFCCP alleged that Oldcastle engaged in hiring discrimination against white, black and women applicants at its Denver, CO facility. To resolve the allegations, Oldcastle will pay $395,000 in back wages and interest to eligible class members. In addition to monetary relief, the company agreed to provide job opportunities, as positions become available, to 38 affected white males, black males, and all female applicants. Oldcastle will also evaluate its personnel practices to ensure that they are compliant, including recruitment, recordkeeping, and internal auditing procedures.
The allegations stemmed from hiring activity from January 21, 2013 to January 20, 2015 for the 8A Loader and Unloader positions in favor of Hispanic and male applicants. At this location, Oldcastle supplied glass for the Rocky Mountain Regional Veterans Affairs Medical Center expansion and reconstruction project.
