Oracle Being Sued by DOL for Various Employment Practices, Including Pay
There has been a rather sudden burst of announcements from OFCCP regarding lawsuits and settlements where compensation/Pay-Equity is the center of the issue. The big question being, since OFCCP has been stating for a long time that compensation issues are valid and that their efforts to expose legitimate pay issues will prove to be correct, is that forecast finally coming true?

The DOL has filed a lawsuit against Oracle America, Inc. alleging that the company had a systemic practice of paying Caucasian males more than their counterparts in the same job title, which resulted in pay discrimination against female, African American and Asian employees. In addition, the suit alleges that Oracle had a systemic practice of favoring Asian workers in its recruiting and hiring for product development and other technical positions, which led to hiring discrimination against non-Asian applicants.
The lawsuit resulted from an OFCCP compliance review which began in 2014. During the review, Oracle also refused to comply with OFCCP’s requests for employment data and records, such as prior year compensation data for all employees, complete hiring data for certain business lines, and employee complaints of discrimination. After one year of failed attempts to resolve the alleged discrimination violations, DOL filed the lawsuit.
