Harris to be replaced by Craig Leen as Acting Director
According to Bloomberg Law, Ondray T. Harris is voluntarily stepping down from his position as Director, OFCCP by the end of the week. Harris has held this lead position at OFCCP for less than eight months and will be replaced by Craig Leen. Leen has been an OFCCP senior advisor to the Director but is listed as Deputy Director on the OFCCP’s website. Since the Director position does not require Senate confirmation, it is rumored that Leen will be the likely choice to permanently fill the vacancy. Leen was the Labor Secretary Acosta’s original pick for the Director, OFCCP position. (OutSolve blog on Craig Leen’s background)
Harris and Leen have worked with business and community leaders to develop a business-friendly approach to the compliance and investigatory process. They have focused on being more responsive, quicker to complete investigations, shorter compliance reviews (in and out in less than a year) and to provide more clarity of requested information. Mr. Leen will be speaking at the NILG conference next week in Anaheim. He is on the agenda as the Keynote speaker on Wednesday morning.
