OFCCP gearing up to re-establish relationship with local and national liaison groups
OutSolve notes: For decades, the OFCCP and Industry Liaison Groups (ILGs) have worked together to cooperate as a shared learning resource to help contractors better understand and implement Affirmative Action. This networking venue has been a tremendous asset to contractors and the fact that there are regional groups throughout the country means most anyone, anywhere can participate.
While the relationship between OFCCP and the ILG world has been tenuous at times over the last 10 years or so, it appears that a rebuilding of the bridge is underway, and that's a really good thing.
If you are not currently an ILG member or if you have not attended a regional or national meeting, here is your chance to get connected. We recommend it as an opportunity to network with your peers but also to get to know the OFCCP and the professionals who support this industry.
National ILG site includes regional pages and contacts.
OFCCP and federal contractors have a shared goal of equal employment opportunity in federal contracting. At OFCCP we have learned that, before we can achieve broader compliance success, first we need to up the level of trust, communication, and education we provide to contractors.
That's why today, OFCCP is delighted to share the news that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Industry Liaison Group (NILG). This milestone agreement promises greater collaboration between OFCCP and contractors, through NILG, a non-profit employer association that facilitates communication and discussion concerning equal employment opportunity and affirmative action obligations and practices with approximately 60 local ILG chapters.
By entering into an MOU both parties have agreed upon the following specific and mutual goals.
• Contractor Education and Training • Helping Contractors Comply with OFCCP's Regulations • Minimizing the Cost of Compliance by Contractors This partnership and MOU is a vehicle for exchanging information, obtaining feedback, and receiving advice from contractors. We look forward to hearing from you.
