International Paper Settles with OFCCP for $3.47 million

Settlement resolves allegations of hiring and placement discrimination

A compliance review at International Paper Inc.’s Shelbyville, Illinois facility found that the contractor allegedly discriminated against 82 qualified female employees who were placed into lower paying machine operating positions, 226 female applicants who were denied jobs in machine operating, and 448 male applicants who were denied employment opportunities in the packer positions.

International Paper Inc. entered into a conciliation agreement and, in addition to paying out $3.47 million, will extend 58 job opportunities with retroactive seniority, 30 promotions opportunities and revise its selection and placement procedures.
