Employers Must Post Notice Pursuant to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) by April 1st

Private sector employers with fewer than 500 employees are required to post the notice

On March 25, 2020, the Department of Labor (DOL) released a model notice that private sector employers with fewer than 500 employees, and certain public sector employers regardless of size, are required to post pursuant to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). The notice must be posted “in conspicuous places on the premises of the employer where notices to employees are customarily posted.” Employers with remote employees may satisfy the notice requirement by emailing or direct mailing the notice or posting the notice on a company intranet or external website. Even if the state requires greater protection, the notice must be posted. DOL is currently working on making the notice available in multiple languages.

The notice requirements apply exclusively to current employees and new hires but not to recently laid-off employees.
