Registered apprenticeship programs provide staff training which help employers build diversity and inclusion in their workplaces
The Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Apprenticeship has released a new webpage on apprenticeship Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO). The new resource provides information and tools for businesses about EEO regulations and promoting diversity and inclusion (D&I).
Registered sponsors can learn about resources to help them create D&I programs and to further understand their obligations under the EEO regulations. They can also list their apprenticeship jobs on the webpage.
Apprentices and applicants can learn about their protections and rights to EEO in the program and find out about apprenticeship opportunities.
“When all qualified individuals, including women, minorities, and individuals with disabilities, have the opportunity to become apprentices, we tap into our nation’s full potential and open new career pathways for American workers.”
OutSolve’s Take
Apprenticeships – like internships, mentorships, and fellowships – are excellent opportunities to broaden the reach of an organization’s opportunities into more diverse populations. As the focus has grown on creating workplaces that are more diverse, equitable, and inclusive, this addition of EEO content to the Apprenticeship site will certainly be helpful.
OutSolve understands this desire to diversify workforces as well as making sure that employees want to stay once they’re hired. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) MIRROR service was designed to help organizations achieve both of those goals: to be attractive to underrepresented populations and to help them feel a sense of belonging once they get there. If you’d like to discuss how to create and achieve your DEI aspirations, reach out to us at info@outsolve.com or by calling 888-414-2410.
